I'm doing things backwards...kind of like StarWars....

So I haven't actually uploaded the video with all of the vital information on it....because that would make sense.  The tutorial I did, involved using hair texture paste and decoart products to give the appearance of peeling book pages..... that video will be uploaded, I promise!
what I wanted to do in this post was show you how you can salvage a page using the same technique!

This page was a beautiful metallic rose gold with some turquoise shimmer spray ink.  The problem was...whenever I used my heat tool in the vicinity of this page..the metallic would bubble, plus that much metallic wasn't really as spectacular as I thought it would be...hmmmm

Sooo all I did to salvage the page was exactly what I did in the video tutorial and it turned out FABULOUS!!!  It is now one of my very favorite pages.
This is why art journaling is so satisfying.  If you make a mistake...it's never a mistake...just a piece of art waiting to be finished.

So go finish some art...or start some art...whatever turns your crank!

products used: DecoArt Media fluid acrylic Titanium White & Media fluid acrylic patina green antiquing medium
DecoArt decoupage paper Victorian Romance
DecoArt glamour dust, Media matte medium
I added some DecoArt Metallic Lustre to the edges of the journal cover when you weren't looking!

Exciting new discovery!

Ok...I don't know if you're like me but holy smokes...when I get art supplies in the mail.....yes, happy hyperventilation.

My Daniel Smith watercolor sample chart came and boy oh boy.  I went on Amazon IMMEDIATELY and started piling watercolors into my cart...till I realized I was spending a gazzillion and 2 dollars

So then my conscience reminded me....I have a gazillion and 2 dollars worth of DecoArt products and, I set to experimenting.
Desperation to have Daniel Smith colors will drive you to use your head!
So I got out my Traditions paints and watercolor medium and lo and behold if there wasn't a bottle of Pearl!
So mixing 1:1 watercolor medium and traditions paints...this is what I came up with!  Can you imagine the glorious colors if you really put your mind to it???
So yes...I am a very excited girl.  Make sure that when you mix your paints with the watercolor medium, you crush the paint and medium together with a palette knife...and I mean crush and smoosh and blend it all really well.
If you have any questions regarding this lovely experiment just pop them in the comments below!  All these products are available at www.decoart.com

Birds of a Feather get into Mischief! DecoArt Mix Media Altered Journal page

gesso pages and dry

Use 'Morroccan' decoupage paper and paper sealer to add interest to your bottom layer.

Using a sponge applicator or baby wipe, apply Americana Dragonfruit and Sizzling Pink Neon

Spray on some white Media shimmer mister.....and some Magenta shimmer!

Get out your stencils! Americana Wildflowers was used here with some glamorous Amethyst Extreme Sheen metallic paint....so PURDY!

I used a feather stamp by Tim Holtz with black StayzOn ink.

Next I used Americana Feathered Friends stencil and Titanium White fluid acrylic

I did a couple coats

Then I outlined with a cool gray PITT marker

Next, I applied Prima Tropical watercolors to my birds...LOve the effect on acrylic paint

...Dabbed them a bit with paper towel

...A little outlining with Titanium white fluid acrylic....

Some teeny tiny stamping at the top with my alphabet stamps...."Birds of a Feather....

Get into mischief!"  I used the Connect the Dots stencil for the larger letters.  There's lots of room for journalling on this page...in the leaves, birds and negative spaces.  Have Fun!

Mini journal insert tutorial

Toilet paper......YOU HEARD ME!

Well, the last of the company has left....all the little turkeys have left!
The house feels very empty right now but, in a good way too.
Today is a focus on the blog and other social media day!
I've been concentrating on you tube videos as of late and completely neglecting my blog and facebook. Let's face it...I'm not a very computery person.
This week I want to concentrate on.....TOILET PAPER ROLLS.
"Really?" you say
yes, really.
I made the most lovely little gift for my mother for Easter and she loved it so much I thought I'd do a running with it.
Here are some pics of the one I made for her..I was thinking a challenge may be in order

...For the month of May, I would like you to come up with a cute toilet paper roll album or card.  There is a video on this blog with instructions to make this very one. I would like YOU to post pics of your finished tp roll projects on this blog in the comments and on my facebook page! What fun!

So get out your lace, pics and paint
and doodahs...and tp rolls!
I want to see what you come up with and here's one rule.....
